KUKA Roboter presents a powerful team for arc welding

KUKA Roboter really gets things moving at EuroBLECH
Hanover/Augsburg, October 2008 – In Hanover, Germany, the EuroBLECH trade fair is all set to open its gates to a wide international public from the sheet-metal working industry. The trade fair is the ideal platform for KUKA Roboter to present itself to industry insiders, with new solutions for arc welding and bending. At its booth G 38 in Hall 11, the welding specialists KR 5 arc and KR 5 arc Hollow Wrist will be cooperating with the new positioning table KUKA Posiflex 5 – creating an ideal team for arc welding applications with a combined total of 29 axes working together.

It is no coincidence that KUKA Roboter has decided to show the market a solution for arc welding at this year’s EuroBLECH, continuing a success story that began with the product launch of the two welding specialists KR 5 arc and KR 5 arc HW (Hollow Wrist) at the start of this year.

29 axes coordinated in the service of the welding process
Two KUKA robots of type KR 5 arc work together with two KR 5 arc HW robots and the new positioning table KPF 5, building a team that coordinates a total of 29 axis motions. The KPF 5 has five axes, handles a payload of up to 500 kg on each side and can be flexibly integrated into the most demanding of system concepts.

The KUKA welding robots are fitted out with equipment from EWM Merkle, Fronius, Kemppi, TBi, Dinse and Binzel Abicor, thus providing the flexibility demanded by the market.

New solutions for the bending process
Welding is not the only application KUKA Roboter is focusing on at the trade fair, however. There are also innovations to be seen in the area of bending. Just how flexibly the KR 5 arc Hollow Wrist can be used in this field is demonstrated by Germany’s leading player in an innovative application for tube bending. And in the KUKA SmartBend cell, visitors to the trade fair can also see a KUKA robot performing a bending process at a Gasparini press brake.

With these fully-fledged solutions and expanded competencies for the sheet-metal and metalworking industries, KUKA Roboter GmbH demonstrates once again its customer-centered philosophy, where the customers’ needs are decisive in determining the ongoing development of the product portfolio. It is not only the robots that are team players at KUKA Roboter.

And because that is so, KUKA Roboter is also showcasing a wealth of other industry applications and solutions at the booths of partner companies belonging to its extensive network of system partners. It pays to take a look around the fair.
