| Founded in 1865, Anthon GmbH’s core competencies are in the field of machinery manufacture for the wood-processing industry. The history of the company, that now has over 150 employees, began with the manufacture of wine and whisky barrels.
The systems, which are used for processing boards, are designed and built by Anthon GmbH itself. For example, IKEA’s ever-popular product “Billy” is manufactured on an Anthon system. The design of such systems of course requires a great deal of expertise in the fields of software and hardware. Automation is becoming ever more important, even in the wood industry. Robots are used for handling tasks and for tending machines, but also in manufacturing systems. The key market requirements in this respect are flexibility and high availability. |

| Implementation / Solution |

| Anthon has now manufactured a sawing system for a customer in New Zealand, including tending and stacking applications, for the processing of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) elements with dimensions of 7.5 x 2.5 meters. The packs of boards that the robot has to lift weigh 750 kg.
This is a clearly a case for the KR 1000 titan from KUKA. With its reach of 4000 mm and a payload capacity of 1000 kg, it is the strongest industrial robot in the world. Nine motors are installed in this robot, which together deliver the power of a mid-sized car. |

The KUKA KR C2 robot controller is integrated into a higher-level controller. This is possible thanks to the standard interfaces used at KUKA. |

| The capacity of the system is also amazing. The two KUKA robots stack around 500 tonnes of wood every day. |
