Gluing of automotive add-on components: a growing trend
Instead of being fastened using screws or clips, automotive add-on components made of plastic are increasingly simply being glued onto the car body using double-sided tape. The gluing of components, such as body side moldings, as well as being more cost-effective is in most cases able to offer better joining quality.

Spraying of parting agent
Sommer Allibert Industrie’s plant at Mouzon, France produces carpets for automobiles. As part of this process, parting agent is sprayed into molds. These molds are used to produce insulating foam, which serves as a sound-attenuating layer between the carpet and the floor panel. The use of parting agent means that the foam can be removed easily and without damage.

Handling of automotive safety parts
The die-casting company Eisenmann Druckguss wanted to automate the manufacture of flanges for electrical steering systems of cars – safety-related components, in other words. The special challenge in this case was that there was practically no tolerance with regard to repeatability.
