Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, jointly with KUKA Robotics (India), has set up India’s first Industrial Robotics Training Centre for Educational Institutions at AKGEC, Ghaziabad. The AKGEC-KUKA Training Centre is setup to produce highly skilled technical manpower in the field of Industrial Robotics. The trained manpower will help Indian Manufacturing Industry to adopt latest technologies to improve quality and work condition with high productivity.
Prof. S.K. Kak, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Mahamaya Technical University, Noida will inaugurate the AKGEC-KUKA Centre on 5th May, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Mr. Gerhard Mueller, Director Customer Service Asia/Pacific, KUKA Roboter, Germany will be the Guest of Honour.
KUKA Robotics (India) Pvt. Ltd a 100% subsidiary of KUKA Roboter GmbH, based in Augsburg, Germany. KUKA is the world leader in industrial robots technologies. KUKA Robotics (India) is part of the worldwide operating KUKA Robot Group. KUKA Robotics (India) Private Limited was incorporated in India in May 2006. With Indian operations headquartered in Gurgaon, KUKA India has a state of the art Service and Training centre in Pune. Today KUKA India’s key clientele include most of the automobile and other engineering as well as non-engineering companies.
Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC) established in 1998, is one of the premier institutions affiliated to Mahamaya Technical University, Noida. The college offers B. Tech programmes in six branches of engineering, M. Tech in four disciplines of engineering and MCA Programme. The college is the recipient of the Academic excellence Award for two consecutive years i.e. 2008-09, 2009-2010 from the H.E Governor of U.P
This collaborative effort of AKGEC & KUKA has the main objective to encourage young professionals to take up this cross disciplinary field as a career of their choice and acquaint them with latest technological developments in the field of Industrial Robotics. The centre aims to train young engineering graduates and diploma students of all engineering disciplines up to the Industry expectations and foster research in applied robotics field.
The centre is equipped with standard training cell comprising of KUKA KR-16 Industrial Robot with required auxiliary equipments. This training cell is capable of performing multitude of operations used for welding, painting, gluing and other essential industrial operations used by the automobile, food & beverages, packaging and other manufacturing/Production industries. In addition to this, a robotics computer simulation lab is also being established with latest industrial robotics simulation Software like SimPro & SimLayout, used to design, develop and simulate robotic operations for different manufacturing establishments.
The centre will conduct following training programs for Engineering & Polytechnic students of all disciplines:
- Robot Programming Basic Level: Training on basic concepts of robot programming, operation of robot system in general
- Robot Programming Advance Level: Training on Motion programming and programming methodology of robot system
- Robot Programming Expert Level: Training on robotic project execution and interrupt programming etc.
The participants, on successful completion of above trainings, will receive joint certification by KUKA Robotics & AKGEC. To make the certifications and training standards at par with KUKA standards, the training contents and course material will be kept same as used by KUKA College internationally. The college is aware that for promoting applied research in this field, adequate knowledge base of cross-disciplinary technologies is essential along with practical exposure. Considering this, expert faculty members from different Engineering departments have been inducted and trained by KUKA to conduct these training programs & carryout research work.
The level of cooperation between KUKA and AKGEC has gradually evolved to very close and mutually beneficial partnership. This partnership will lead to wide variety of interactions in near future which include problem solving, curriculum development, study visits, student project assistance, placements etc. A detailed MOU is signed between AKGEC and KUKA to outline areas of cooperation and further strengthen this relationship.
