KUKA Roboter gets into print

KUKA Roboter to debut at drupa with robotic solutions for the printing sector

KR QUANTEC
Düsseldorf/Augsburg, April 2012 – KUKA Roboter GmbH will be making its first appearance at drupa, which is taking place from 3 to 16 May 2012 in Düsseldorf. KUKA has chosen the world’s largest trade fair for print media to present itself as a printing industry specialist and logistics expert with a new palletizing robot from the KR QUANTEC series. In the innovation park, Booth C 19 in Hall 7, visitors to the trade fair can find out how industrial robots are capable of accelerating printing processes.

Industrial robots are an ideal tool for speeding up processes in the printing and paper industry. Together with its integrators from the printing sector, the Augsburg-based robot manufacturer has a host of ideas for printing and bookbinding shops up its sleeve. For example, KUKA offers custom-tailored robotic solutions for the fast and effortless loading of cutting machines in bookbinding operations, the palletizing of commercial print jobs or the automatic loading of gluing machines in three-shift operation.

Brand-new stacking specialist: expert for the printing industry

The KR 180 QUANTEC PA palletizing robot on show at the KUKA booth has rounded out the new product generation. With the KR QUANTEC robot series, the KUKA.WorkVisual software platform and the KR C4 robot controller, automation becomes really easy for the printing and paper-converting industry.
The major challenge facing palletizing robots in system concepts for the printing and paper industry is that of speed. This must not be achieved at the cost of precision, however. Combining both objectives is no problem for the new KR QUANTEC palletizing robots. The reduced weight of the robots makes them extremely fast, resulting in drastically shortened cycle times. The types KR 120 QUANTEC PA, KR 180 QUANTEC PA and KR 240 QUANTEC PA are available – for payloads of 120, 180 and 240 kilograms respectively. All three have a reach of 3,200 mm.

Simply safe: KR C4 – the control system of the future

At the drupa trade fair, KUKA is also presenting the KR C4, a control system that integrates robot, motion, sequence and process control. But that is not all. Even more important is the fact that the complete safety controller is seamlessly integrated into the KR C4 control system. In the new control system, KUKA has systematically dispensed with limiting hardware and replaced it with intelligent software functions.

With its well-engineered solutions, KUKA Roboter offers a range of products that correspond to actual market requirements. KUKA Roboter aims to help its customers stand out from the tough competition in their industry with user-friendly automation solutions.
