KUKA Roboter GmbH is one of the world’s leading suppliers of industrial robots. As such, the company is constantly striving to meet the demands of the market and its customers’ needs, developing new technologies to exacting standards. It is this philosophy that lies behind the company’s development of solutions for use in cleanrooms.
The KUKA cleanroom robots KR 3 CR, KR 16 CR and KR 180 L130 CR are based on the optimized technology of standard KUKA industrial robots and also come equipped with the service-proven, high-performance KUKA controller. With their six degrees of freedom, these robots are offered as standard solutions for fields of application in which, until now, customers often had little choice but to implement costly dedicated systems. Such applications include materials handling in cleanrooms (wafer handling, flat panel display handling), semiconductor production and plastics processing.
The cleanroom models differ from standard KUKA robots in their specially ground and painted surfaces, which guard against the build-up of particle deposits. Modified seals prevent abrasion. In addition, every cleanroom robot is fitted with a connection for dust extraction.
All three robot types conform to the requirements of air cleanliness class 5 (according to DIN EN ISO 146449) and class 100 (according to US Federal Standard 209 E). Moreover, the KR 16 CR and the KR 180 L130 CR have also gained certification from the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation (IPA).
