Automation becomes easy

Flexible automation solutions at LIGNA

KUKA QUANTEC
Hanover/Augsburg, May/June 2011 – At LIGNA 2011, KUKA Roboter GmbH is presenting the new KR QUANTEC product generation, the KUKA.WorkVisual software platform and the KR C4 robot controller, which is set to simplify automation in the wood industry. Hall 25, Booth C60 is where KUKA will demonstrate that its motto “Automation becomes easy” is no empty promise.

Thanks to their flexibility, KUKA robots perform value-adding work and are especially well-suited to combining handling with assembly and machining tasks. This diversity of tasks will be really brought home to the visitors by the demonstration cell at the company’s booth, which will provide ingenious answers to a wide range of challenges encountered in the industry. These include palletizing, assembly, machining, stacking, gripping, machine tending, loading, unloading and order picking.

New product generation

Spotlight on simplification: whether in planning, integration, operator control, maintenance or adaptation, the Augsburg-based technological leader is demonstrating with its new products how robotics can be made safer and more energy-efficient.

Simply compact: the QUANTEC robot series

With the new KR QUANTEC robot series, a single robot family covers the entire high payload range from 90 to 300 kg with reaches of up to 3,100 mm. A harmonized range of 15 robot types makes it possible to determine the exact robot model that is best-suited to the required motion profile.

Simply safe: KR C4 – the control system of the future

The new KR C4 controller features a ground-breaking, clearly-structured and easy-to-understand system architecture that concentrates on powerful open data standards. In this architecture, all integrated control modules have a joint database and infrastructure which they use and share intelligently, and communicate directly with one another.

Competent system partner network

If one considers the needs of the wood industry, which include such requirements as scanning pallets, gripping and setting down workpieces in a wide range of formats, milling, drilling and joining, and precisely positioned setdown at a long range, then it is clear that KUKA Key Technology Management and the extensive network of integrators and system partners demonstrate the expertise for flexible solutions which are energy-efficient and tailored to the specific task.

Particularly in the wood-processing industry, human-machine cooperation is of immense importance. With its “Safe Robot” technology, KUKA guarantees the human worker the necessary safety to work hand in hand with the robot.
