The largest single donation from an Augsburg company to date is based on a common idea from the management and the workforce. After the employees had begun with their own collection for the flood victims, the board of management provided an additional incentive, promising to double the sum collected and give a further € 100,000.
True to the motto “Medium-sized companies help each other”, the money is destined for smaller businesses from the metal-working sector. KUKA Roboter sees this as a way to secure jobs in these companies. In addition, the board of management hopes to set an example for other companies and motivate them to take similar action.
KUKA Roboter GmbH, a subsidiary of IWKA Aktiengesellschaft, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial robots. Core competencies are the development, production and sale of industrial robots, controllers, software and linear units. In 2001, the company achieved total sales of more than 250 million euro, with an output in excess of 7,500 robots.
